“Let’s talk about the EU’s tax policy.”

In January 2023, TAE was interviewed by the magazine of the Swedish Taxpayers’ Association on issues relating to the EU’s current tax policy and asked to give its assessment.

The interview discusses the EU’s current efforts to further expand its tax powers whilst simultaneously massively increasing EU expenditure. Not only does the EU wish to levy higher and new taxes, but there are also strong moves within the European Parliament and the European Commission to transform the EU’s debt – which was originally taken on on a temporary basis to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic – into a permanent institution. At the same time, more and more national powers are to be transferred to Brussels. As a taxpayers’ association, we cannot endorse this development, as it could ultimately have a negative impact on the people and businesses of Europe.
