European Taxpayers’ Association (TAE): Juncker must make the issue of asylum a top priority
TAE welcomes the Munich district’s new humanitarian ‘air dome’ solution for housing asylum seekers.
Inhumane accommodation conditions, such as those exposed by a German television programme on Lesbos in Greece, are, according to Taxpayers’ Association President Rolf von Hohenhau, a damning indictment of Europe. “What has been happening to refugees in some European countries to date is often inhumane. As many countries are literally being overwhelmed by the wave of refugees, they often act without a clear plan and simply shirk their responsibility. This puts a strain on solidarity within the EU. We must do everything in our power to change this!”
“There are creative, humanitarian and, at the same time, rapidly implementable solutions for accommodating asylum-seekers,” said the President of the European Taxpayers’ Association at the opening of the first air-dome asylum accommodation in Taufkirchen near Munich.
President Rolf von Hohenhau called on Jean-Claude Juncker and the European heads of state and government to finally give the issue of asylum the highest priority. “We need a humanitarian solution and a European standard for the accommodation of asylum seekers.” For this reason, the European Taxpayers’ Association supports the new air-dome housing concept devised by District Administrator Christoph Göbel in the Bavarian district of Munich.

As part of a public visit ahead of the opening of the air-dome asylum accommodation in Taufkirchen, the European taxpayers’ organisation presented its draft concept for an asylum solution.

“The hopes of asylum seekers and taxpayers across Europe now rest with European Commission President Juncker, as this problem can only be resolved at European level and by mutual agreement. The European Commission and European heads of state and government should follow the example of the District of Munich (Bavaria, Germany) and develop creative and affordable solutions themselves to tackle the Herculean task of providing accommodation for asylum-seekers across Europe,” explained TAE President Rolf von Hohenhau.
