EU officials: Reform of privileges is necessary
With around 45,000 employees, the EU civil service is by far the best-paid in Europe. This lavish array of privileges must be curtailed as part of this year’s revision of the EU Staff Regulations.
Overpaid, privileged and, on top of that, enjoying tax breaks: EU civil servants receive salaries, allowances and holiday entitlement that other civil servants can only dream of – let alone employees in the private sector. These privileges are enshrined in the EU Staff Regulations, which have been criticised on numerous occasions in the past by the Taxpayers’ Association (BdSt).
